Toolkit on digital case management systems (DCMS) for authorities involved in international cooperation in criminal matters

About the Toolkit

The digital transformation of criminal justice institutions has become increasingly crucial in facilitating effective international cooperation in criminal matters. As criminal justice authorities, including central and competent authorities involved in international cooperation in criminal matters, worldwide embrace information and communication technologies (ICTs), the development of digital case management systems has emerged as a critical component in streamlining cross-border judicial requests and processes. However, the path toward digitalized systems in support of judicial cooperation has been marked by both successes and challenges, offering valuable lessons for future development and implementation

The objective of this UNODC toolkit is to compile good practices and lessons learnt on the development and use of digital case management systems by central and competent authorities responsible for international cooperation in criminal matters to facilitate seamless international cooperation while maintaining fundamental principles including due process, data protection and procedural rights. This toolkit will be used to provide technical assistance to various Member States later on upon request.

The toolkit is currently under development.
