
In 2008, the defendant, acting jointly with other individuals (no information available about any court cases relating to such individuals), recruited and arranged for the transportation and transfer of a young woman and a female minor, both Ukrainian nationals, to an unidentified person in Moscow for commercial sexual exploitation. The victims were told that they would sell fruit in Moscow.

The defendant was convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison with confiscation of all of his personal belongings for trafficking in persons (Article 149, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The appellate Court upheld the decision of the 1st instance court and rejected the appeal requesting a milder sentence.
The appelate Court found no grounds for changing the sentence for a milder one.
