Student assessment

In undertaking the assessment, students should demonstrate an understanding of the Module learning outcomes.

Students should be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of the links between OGCs, gangs and terrorist groups;
  • describe the common routes for illicit transfer of firearms/SALW;
  • critically assess* the ability of law enforcement to monitor these routes;
  • critically discuss* how the international community can better tackle the illicit trafficking of weapons between these groups.

(*The extent of critical evaluation and synthesis will be dependent on the student’s level of study).

In groups or individually, the students shall write a paper of maximum 2,500 words emphasizing the links between organized crime with regards to firearms trafficking, and applying local rules and legislation, to identify loopholes that can be used by traffickers and propose programmatic solutions.
