The victim, M.B., was brought from Indonesia to work as a domestic worker at the house of the defendant, Ziad Tawfiq Sabah, on the sponsorship of the defendant's wife. The defendant brought her into the country for the purpose of exploiting her to achieve financial gain through forcing her to work for others. He used threats and physical abuse to force her into working outside the house for other people for long hours. The defendant’s salary was 25-30 JD per day yet he paid the victim only 2 JD. When the defendant took the victim to the house of L.S.H.A.D., the victim told L.S.H.A.D. how the defendant was exploiting her by making her work outside his house. In turn, the authorities were notified.
The Court found the defendant guilty of human trafficking based on Article 3/A/1 of the Jordanian Law to Combat Human Trafficking and he was sentenced to prison for 6 months based on Article 8 of the Law. He was also convicted of violating Article 18 of the Law of Professional Licenses and was fined 10 JD. Based on Article 72 of the Penal Code, the court combined the two penalties.
